Do BC condo buildings require movers to have insurance certificates?
Most BC Condo Buildings Require a Certificate of Insurance
Yes, most do. Strata councils and property managers in BC usually ask for a certificate of insurance, called a COI, before they will book the elevator for your move. The COI proves your mover carries real coverage. No certificate often means no elevator, and no elevator means no move. It is a routine step, but it trips up people who learn about it late.
The certificate names the building and shows the mover's insurance limits. It protects the strata if a wall, a door, or the elevator gets damaged on move day. Every building sets its own rules, so ask your property manager early. Some want the paperwork a week or more ahead, and some set a coverage amount too.
1Pro handles this all the time. We are fully licensed and insured, and our crews are bonded and covered by WCB. We send your building the COI it asks for, and we book the elevator time with them too. Our crews have moved clients in and out of Vancouver House and Telus Garden, buildings with strict move rules.
