What is a strata move-in fee in BC?
Strata Move-In Fees Are Set by Your Building, Not Your Mover
A strata move-in fee is money your building charges when you move in or out. Many BC buildings charge one, and some also take a refundable damage deposit. Each strata sets its own amounts in its bylaws, so the fee varies from building to building. Your mover has nothing to do with it.
Check the bylaws or ask your property manager before move day. Ask three things. Is there a move-in fee, and how much? Is there a deposit, and when does it come back? And what are the elevator booking rules? Get the answers in writing if you can. Ten minutes of asking saves an ugly surprise at the door.
Movers do not set these fees and do not collect them. The money goes to the strata, not the moving company. What your mover can handle is the building side of the job. 1Pro books the elevator time with your building and provides the certificate of insurance most stratas require.
That is standard on every 1Pro condo move and apartment move. You handle the strata's paperwork and fees. We handle the truck, the crew, the wrapping, and the elevator window. Sort both sides early and move day stays calm.
